I have 996.42V43.64E884.3Pt. fell from his wheelchair dislocating his hip prosthetic, status post total hip replacement 2 months.It is the 996.42 I don't like... any ideas?

That was my first thought, but the code description refers only to malfunction of the prosthetic and not the patients "fall" I thought an 835.00 code would be better... with the V code for the status...

Check a printed ICD9 book to see the full description of the 996.42. In the online version I looked at, it does not necessarily mean the device itself failed. That is one option, but not the only...
